PRRO Circuit Championships Moves from Atlanta to 2014 Utica Boilermaker

Atlanta Peachtree hosts U.S. 10K Championships for Men and Women

The Professional Road Running Organization (PRRO) announced today that the PRRO Circuit Championship will take place at the Utica Boilermaker 15K on July 13 in Utica, NY. The Championship, which was previously scheduled at the AJC Peachtree Road Race, was changed in response to Peachtree’s focus on the USATF Men’s and Women’s 10K Championships this year.

"The AJC Peachtree Road Race remains committed to the PRRO Circuit and we look forward to continuing to participate in this world class race circuit. We believe that the Circuit's commitment to drug testing at all PRRO Circuit events remains an important safeguard for the integrity of our sport," said Rich Kenah, executive director of the Atlanta Track Club.

This will be the Utica Boilermaker’s first time hosting the PRRO Championship. Winners of PRRO Circuit races during the 2013-2014 season will be able to compete for the Circuit bonus at the Boilermaker, as well as any “Bump-Up” bonuses they are eligible for. Race winners will be the first qualifiers to compete for the Circuit Purse at the 2014-2015  PRRO Championship.

We’re very excited about the opportunity to host the prestigious PRRO championships,” said Utica Boilermaker race director Jim Stasaitis. “The Boilermaker 15K is the crown jewel in our community’s weekend events, and the championships will add an extra shine to the celebration.”

The Professional Road Running Organization (PRRO) is an alliance of race directors who together organize and promote the PRRO Circuit, a nationwide series of premier non-marathon road racing events. The Circuit's open competition policy (athletes from all countries are eligible) results in the most competitive and high-profile elite fields in the sport at each event. Over $400,000 in prize money is available to competitors in the five race circuit.
