PRRO Championship bonus rules and prize money

Win one of the circuit races during the 2024-25 circuit year -- 2024 Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K, 2024 Boilermaker 15K, 2024 Bix 7 Mile, 2025 Gate River Run 15K, 2025 Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, 2025 Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K -- PLUS the PRRO Championship race presented by Boilermaker 15K on July 13, 2025, and you take home the $20,000 PRRO Super Bonus (this is split if eligible male and female win the PRRO title in the same year). When the purse is won, the PRRO Super Bonus resets the next year to $10,000. If the Super Bonus is not won, it grows by $5000 the following year (e.g. $25,000 for the 2026 Circuit if the Super Bonus is not claimed at the 2024-25 PRRO Championship).

PRRO Event Champion’s Bonus
The winners of each individual PRRO Circuit event will receive a $1500 bonus if they do not win the PRRO Championship but do finish in places 2-10 at the PRRO Championship. The PRRO Individual Event Champion’s Bonus is cumulative (e.g., if an athlete wins two current circuit events, he or she would be eligible for a $3000 PRRO Event Champion’s Bonus at the PRRO Championship). These bonuses are paid in addition to any prize money won at the PRRO Championship. NOTE: Any eligible athlete who wins the PRRO Super Bonus at the PRRO Championship is not eligible for the PRRO Individual Event Champion's Bonus.

PRRO Championship Prize Money
If the male and female winners of the PRRO Championship have not won any of the events on that year's circuit, they will win $2500 as the PRRO Circuit champions in addition to the prize money offered by the PRRO Championship host event.

PRRO Points System
To increase the participation of top runners in the PRRO Championship, a points system will be in effect at all PRRO Circuit events beginning with the Gate River Run in March 2025. Points will be awarded at each event as follows

Each PRRO Circuit race winner is an automatic qualifier to compete for the PRRO Super Bonus. Once auto qualified, each event winner will be removed from the points system.

Second: 10 points
Third: 9 points
Fourth: 8 points
Fifth: 7 points
Sixth: 6 points
Seventh: 5 points
Eighth: 4 points
Ninth: 3 points
Tenth: 2 points

Note: If a runner who is already qualified by virtue of having won a previous PRRO Circuit event finishes in the top 10, no points are awarded. Those points do not “move down” to the next finisher (e.g. if the winner of Cherry Blossom finishes third at Bloomsday, the 9 points for third are not awarded. Next finisher earns 8 points.) The top five points earners, and the individual event winners, are eligible to compete for the

PRRO Super Bonus at the PRRO Championship (although only the individual event winners are eligible for payments of $1,500 if they don’t win the Super Bonus but finish in the top 10). Tie breaker: If two or more runners have an equal number of points in the fifth position in the points standings, the runner who has won the most open prize money on the current PRRO Circuit will be considered in fifth place.

PRRO Championship and Circuit Year
The PRRO Circuit Championship will rotate among the PRRO Circuit races, with the Circuit Year starting and finishing at the same event. The Championship event will serve as a PRRO Championship qualifier the first time it is held and will host the PRRO Circuit Championship the second time it is held.

  • The 2024-25 PRRO Circuit begins with the Lilac Bloomsday Run  on May 5, 2024 and will conclude with the Boilermaker 15K on July 13, 2025.
